We try to hold on to our youth, possessions, people, careers and most everything in life— including life itself. Everything in this life is really the shimmering mist on the shore.
Everything is here for a moment and then like sea mist disappears in the warm light of the sun. Yet, it does not have to diminish our enjoyment and fulfillment in life to be aware that all is transitory. In fact, surrendering to the natural flow of changes in life allows us to be much more present.
We can only partake fully in the joy of the moment, when we are not trying to hold on to it.
