A single second of stillness will refresh and renew us on all levels, and to a startling degree! Often we lack a sense of urgency about our spiritual practice. The goal seems vague and far off while clamoring thoughts and earthly desires are waiting at our fingertips.
The Indian saint, Ramakrishna said that we must desire enlightenment as a man with his hair on fire desires a bucket of water! But why should we so desire enlightenment when earthly treasures await our pursuit? We are, each of us, mad for some form of treasure.
Yet we settle for a pocket full of coins offered by the world when a gold mine of joy and bliss could be ours. If only we knew!
