It is a frightening thing to contemplate our own non-existence in this world. But what if, at the end of our lives we do not burn out like a candle but instead become the sun itself? This is a metaphor, of course, but perhaps more literally true than we let ourselves dare believe.
Many have described a light within more effulgent than the sun and all the heavenly luminaries combined. Jesus said, "Let thine eye be single and thy body shall be filled with light." Let thine eye be single, be focused on one thing as in the one-pointed concentration in meditation.
It is easy to dismiss such ideas or to just wait and see what happens. It is harder to take up the challenge of spiritual life. But if we do not climb the mountain ourselves we will never know the truth about the view.
