Sound is vibration. Everything vibrates. Since everything in the universe is vibrating, everything is making sound, though the physical ear cannot hear. The Vedas, ancient spiritual texts of India, call this Divine Sound Nad (Inner Music) or Akashvani (sound from the sky). Buddhist scriptures refer to it as sonorous Light.
Ancient Greek philosophers also speak of this sound. Socrates states that he heard a sound that took him to spiritual realms he could not describe. From Sufi mystics, "Rise above thy mental horizon, O brave soul, and listen to the call of Music coming from above."
