Soaring into the bliss of consciousness without thought is usually a gradual process of intense focusing and also letting go.
Basically it requires focusing completely on the object of our meditation or contemplation, and the letting go. We don’t usually let go all at once. We gradually stop holding on so tightly, or as Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo says, “we learn to hold on loosely.”
When thoughts, memories or feelings drift into our field of concentration we become more able to touch them lightly and let them go, returning gently to the focus of our attention.
