Those who move unperturbed through life's difficulties are not protected by a hardened shell, but by a cushion of love and compassion. Those who wear their armor on the outside have hardened their feelings and dulled their sensitivity in order to not feel the pain of life's difficulties.
Those who have also suffered but whose manner is soft and compassionate have learned to let tragedy and pain pass through them without resistance. We know this is no small feat. At times in life there are tidal waves of anguish and grief that seem unbearable.
First we learn to ride these waves of life, then to rise above. Only those who find the true center of their being are unmoved in the stormy sea of life.
