When we have experienced the fleeting satisfaction of desires that we thought would bring us fulfillment, we may discover an unexpected longing for stillness, emptiness.
So long we have been lonely for things and relationships but there remains ever a deeper loneliness for wholeness. This is not something we can add to ourselves. It is something we can only experience as we let go of "self." "Self", by definition is separate. We experience fullness of being when we are empty of all the thoughts of who we think we are.
When we are empty of thought, without the “walls of self” we merge into wholeness. We cannot acquire it and add it to who we think we are.
