This concept of "self" that we wrap around us and masquerade in is not who we are. It is like a cocoon we are being transformed in. When we are ready, we will emerge from the illusion that we are a collection of thoughts, feelings and memories inside a physical body. We are in fact a vast consciousness that dwells for a time in a body. This is who we are but it is a higher state of consciousness than what we normally experience day to day.
Moving into this higher state is much like emerging from a dream when we wake, only we "wake up" from the dream of our daily reality into a more lucid awareness. Saints and sages point the way and gradually we all leave the cocoon of self to soar into Wholeness—transformed like the butterfly.
