The nature of the mind is to always be thinking. In addition to this we are strongly trained and conditioned to use the mind for thinking, planning, analyzing, judging, etc. Rarely do we encounter encouragement for, or consider using the mind for another purpose entirely—stillness.
Being completely alert and conscious without thought may not only seem foreign but at first might seem to be an utter waste of time. But sages, saints and yogis tell that the empty mind, fully awake, is the portal to our soul's dreams. As the noise of the mind is turned down the clarity of Truth's whispering is revealed.
