Someone who has been given a great gift— artistic, intellectual or physical—is also given additional cause to feel deserving of some special credit and recognition. The truly great, however, exhibit a humility that comes from knowing that they are the instrument of their works and not the creator.
Whether in the arts, athletics or intellectual fields, the most inspiring accomplishments result from transcending the sense of "I." The artist is the brush in the hand of the creator, the musician is the hollow flute at the lips of the Divine.
