The two basic elemental components of the universe are light and darkness. They also represent the primary forces of good and evil in both story and myth throughout the ages. In truth, darkness in itself is not bad. In darkness we sleep and renew ourselves, seeds sprout in darkness, and we are born out of darkness.
Still, it is light that we hold in reverence. We refer to the "Light of Truth" and the "Light of spiritual awakening." We wait through the dark of winter. anticipating the return of the light of spring. Light gives us sight and causes seeds to sprout and reach upward. Light is also used to represent and describe the highest and most sublime spiritual experiences.
It is any wonder we look up at the stars and something sparkles and shines in our souls?
