Our thoughts, non-stop and tireless, may seem an endless playground during a portion of our life. However, when we experience great difficulty or tragedy in our lives we may also experience a new desire: relief from our thoughts! Silence, on the other hand, may seem boring, unappealing, possibly even threatening. That is, until the stress and anxiety created in our minds leads us to seek the refuge of silence in the storm of life.
Meditation is a powerful method for learning how to access the treasure of "calm presence." What once seemed a bore or frightening becomes a great comfort and source of joy.
