This is a very difficult idea to make sense of until we begin to approach silence. We wonder, “What could possibly be said without words?” But, everything we try to express has its origin in silence. If we can learn to go there, to the place where thoughts and inspiration are born from, then we begin to “know” things that cannot be spoken.
Coleman Barks translated Rumi as saying, “Silence is the language of God, all else is poor translation.”
Could anyone ever really say in words what Love is? If you “know” what Love is, it will leave you speechless.
