In India, the concept of God most often takes the form of a personal and approachable Being. This living presence is seen as permeating everything as the consciousness of the Divine. God may be seen as Mother, Her body as the heavens, wearing a garland of galaxies and breathing creation into being.
This feeling of intimacy with the Divine is infused into one's relationship with all living things, all inanimate things and all personal connections. Everything takes on the qualities of closeness, familiarity, a sense of security and at the same time ultimate respect and reverence. All of creation is our Mother and our Father and our closest of friends.
