There is no spirit or elixir
that can make us so drunk
with misperception

as the ongoing play of our life
and the drama of this world

Through the lens of our own desires and fears we do not see the people or the world around us as they are, much less the truth of our own purpose and highest destiny. We can be so intoxicated with our own life, with its desires, ambitions, possessions, fears, regrets, guilt, anger and shame, the world around us just spins in a blur. We reel drunkenly from one drama to the next.
To see clearly with a sober eye, we need time away from the intense drama of our life. A little time in the clarity of stillness can help us to see what goals can truly bring us happiness, as well as what steps we need to take to move toward them.
