Today's Daily Inspiration

MARCH 27th

But beyond the drama
there is a Peace and a Joy
that we both endlessly seek
and simultaneously run from

Peace and desire are incompatible. In fact they are mutually exclusive. When we are at peace, we are at peace with everything as it is in the present moment. Desire by definition means that something is missing in this moment. This is our game of tug of war. On one side is the longing for peace, drawing us toward stillness and the present moment. On the other side are our desires, promising happiness, but constantly dragging us out of the only time and place it can ever be found—the here and now.
The catch-22 is that we cannot eliminate desires, but neither do we need to. Desires are like passing clouds in the sky of our mind. It is only our attachment to them that causes our misery. If a cloud passes by it may block the sun, but only momentarily. As we learn to let them drift on by we find the light of peace returns without effort and without fail!
