When we begin to observe the mind we discover that it is continually carrying on multiple conversations and pursuing various imaginary scenarios. It monopolizes our consciousness and scatters our attention. The silence out of which these thoughts arise is the portal to the source of our being. It is in silence that we experience our wholeness, our oneness, our ultimate fulfillment. So long as there are thoughts, there is a "me" thinking these thoughts—and as long as there is a "me," there is separation. In silence there are no thoughts, no sense of "me" and no separation. This is what our souls are longing for. No separation.
