If we were climbing to the top of a great mountain, we would not fill our backpack with rocks! Yet on the journey of life, up the mountain of challenges before us, we often fill the backpacks in our minds with rocks of guilt and shame. This is often because we don't think we shine as brightly as someone else. These are judgments we would not think to cast upon animals or nature, but because we think we are a "self" that must be defined in terms of good and bad we often judge ourselves and others. We hang on to our shame and guilt because we think they are a part of who we are. They are no more who we are, than rocks in a backpack. Toss the rocks over a cliff and continue on your way—lighter and freer!
